Ballet West’s Pre-Professional Programme is a one-year programme for graduate dancers who are looking to refine their technical and artistic abilities and prepare for company life as a professional classical dancer. This programme will create a pathway for pre professional dancers to transition from a vocational training programme to a professional career.
Dancers on the programme will have access to a range of valuable opportunities from private coaching to the creation of new works to performances with the Ballet West Company. A unique aspect of the course is the opportunity that dancers will have to gain work experience with international companies who are partnered with Ballet West. Mentors on the programme will be actively involved in helping the dancers develop and prepare audition material as well as assisting them in creating links with companies, choreographers and artistic directors from around the world.
Following Ballet West’s system of training, which has been key to the success of the full-time school, dancers on the programme will receive tailored coaching and will be mentored by established and renowned artists from the classical ballet field, including Norton Fantinel who will go on to become the Artistic Director of the Ballet West Company in 2021.
The programme will be run from the Ballet West studios in Taynuilt / Oban, Argyll. An exceptionally beautiful and inspiring setting for these emerging artists.
The Pre-Professional Programme is a rigorous training programme which focuses on strengthening and developing the dancers as individuals in the pursuit of a professional career. Dancers on the programme will receive highly personalised tuition throughout a range of daily classes alongside the opportunity to work with the professional dancers when they are in-house. Dancers will have a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year including a national tour with the acclaimed Ballet West Company, gaining valuable professional experience.
